Holloman Honors

For the first time, Holloman Corporation sponsored a cook-off booth at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo “World’s Championship Bar-B- Que Cook-off Contest”. Andrew Heckman was the lead chef of the “Roadkill” cook-team which was generally comprised of Holloman employees. The cook-team participated in multiple cook-off entries and they were awarded top honors.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) is a Section 501(c)(3) organization which was organized for charitable, educational and scientific purposes. As cited on the HLSR website, more than $430 million has been committed to the youth of Texas since 1932. Each year, more than 750 scholarships are awarded to Texas students by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and nearly 17,000 scholarships have been presented since the first scholarship was awarded in 1957. “In keeping with the mission of the show, all grant applications and awardees must benefit youth, support education, expand agricultural horizons and/or preserve and honor pioneer heritage and culture”. In excess of $55 million has been issued in grants and research in more than 100 organizations and institutions in Texas. 2017 was a record year for the world’s largest livestock show and rodeo! Over 2.6 million people were welcomed to the grounds and more than 1.37 million people attended the rodeo and concert production inside NRG stadium.
